AUM Building Science and Engineering Ltd. (AUM) consists of an experienced team of engineers, consultants, project managers and technologists with years of combined experience in the building science and construction industry. AUM Building Science and Engineering Ltd.’s management team is fronted by Conrad V. Desrosiers, P. Eng., FEC, BEP, RRO & Hari Korpal, P. Eng., BEP. RRO. Two of AUM Building Science & Engineering Ltd.’s professional engineers completed the AIBC sponsored Building Envelope Education Program and comply with the requirements for Building Envelope Professional. The two individuals are Conrad Desrosiers, P.Eng., FEC, BEP, RRO, and Hari Korpal, P Eng., BEP, RRO. Various staff members have also completed numerous envelope related courses as part of their continuing professional development. AUM personnel are RCABC approved roofing inspectors and AUM is a RCABC certified roofing inspection firm. AUM personnel are also PAQ & S certified in compliance with Soprema, siplast, IKO, firestone and various other manufacturer’s requirements. Personnel have also achieved various other professional designations not listed herein.
Mr. Korpal, is a professional engineer in the field of Building Science since 2001 in the area of: low rise and high-rise buildings, new construction and restoration projects, building envelope investigations, design and overseeing of remedial work.
Hari is an approved RCABC Roofing Inspector. Hari is proud to have been a part of the team (as a building envelope consultant) for the construction of new hospital facilities such as ACC- Kelowna General Hospital, UBC Parkade Building, the Clinical Support Building in Kelowna, and the Jubilee Hospital in Vernon. Hari has acted as a building envelope consultant on a significant number of buildings. In addition to the assessment and rehabilitation of existing building enclosures, Hari has also acted as a building enclosure consultant on numerous (100’s) new construction projects, ranging from single family dwellings, townhouses and apartment buildings, to large scale commercial and institutional facilities.
Mr. Desrosiers has been involved in the restoration, protection and waterproofing of structures since 1985. Conrad was an elected APEGBC Councillor, was a founding member of the Association of Professional Engineer’s Building Envelope Task Force and was an active Director of the Roofing Consultants Institute of Western Canada. Conrad is a Haag Certified Roofing Inspector for commercial and residential buildings, and is also an approved RCABC Roofing Inspector. In Feb, 2017 Conrad was awarded the distinction of Fellow of the Engineers of Canada for exemplary contributions to the field of professional engineering.
Joseph Shannon completed his diploma in building technology (architecture) in 1985 from BCIT. He has also successfully completed numerous architectural, roofing, building code and building envelope related courses. Mr. Shannon is currently registered as AScT., with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC).
Mr. Shannon provides over 30 years of experience in architectural design and drafting (single family dwellings, multi-family dwellings and institutional buildings). Since 1989, Joseph has been practicing in the building envelope fields for both restoration and new construction projects. He is responsible for the preparation of specifications, details and drawings for roofing and building envelope projects and he also conducts the related field reviews. He is very cognizant with the BCBC, VBBL, and other codes & regulations.

Our firm also realizes excellent working relationships with a number of external engineering firms for additional engineering services (i.e., structural, geotechnical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering services).
